The new Energy Saving Act (EnEV) came into effect on October 1st, 2007. From that date, it is mandatory to have energy documentation for new buildings, while in the case of existing buildings, starting on July 1st 2008 every dwelling, house or residential building which is sold or leased must also have such energy documentation.
